Rain measurement is usually used to
know how much water that drops from cloud until earth surface which is
considered flat and impermeable or also called
precipitation and expressed as the water level. The unit of rainfall is
millimeters. Rainfall can be measured using a measuring instrument rainfall,
one of which is Tipping bucket. Tipping bucket is the
automatic rainfall measuring instrument which can display rainfall data
directly in computer. But there are Advantages and disadvantage of using
Tipping bucket.
Tipping bucket measure the rainfall data
directly and display the data on interface program software in computer and its
make the observer doesn’t need to go to the instruments field. And then, the
rain character (Light, Medium, or Heavy) can be determined easily. Tipping
bucket also have unlimited Rainfall capacity. Rainfall Output data Tipping
bucket can be connected by wireless to connect the interface program in far
range.
The disadvantage of this sensor is
need a system that make control of its work and addition components .it’s like
power supply, micro controller, and connection module. There is the rest of
rainfall in bucket which has not fallen and it is make the data have a small
deviation if not drained after the last rainfall measurement.
Based on the above mentioned cases,
the use of Tipping bucket for the measurement of precipitation is pretty good
with a lot of benefits and ease of retrieval of data. The disadvantages can be
resolved with the good use and install additional components as needed. And
perform the measurement method correctly to reduce the deviation data.
